K-9 Program
Due to the
number of existing animal shelters in the tri-county area, the board decided it
might be best to change our major goal of building a new shelter to make a
donation each year to one already operating and needing assistance. Because of
Jessica’s desire to become a K-9 officer, we decided to pursue purchasing a K-9
for a city or county that wanted to implement a program but lacked the funding.
The Swartz Creek Police Department was chosen as our first recipient of the
funding. Chief Rick Clolinger worked closely with Matt and Bill through the
process of discovering what would be required, how much money would be needed
and the approval of the Swartz Creek City Council. The Swartz Creek Police
Department now has a new officer on the force, a German Shepherd by the name of
Ike.
Any department
that may be interested should contact the foundation.
